Home Sales Slump In July

King And Snohomish County Home Sales Down In July.

July home sales in King and Snohomish counties followed the trend across the county for fewer home sales. Active listings in King County increased by 1,432 homes or 20 percent compared to the same time period in 2005. Sales decreased in July by 12 percent or 504 homes. It is interesting that market times have remained virtually unchanged even with the increased inventory and fewer sales.

The average sales price of $475,968 this July was 15 percent higher than July 2005.

Snohomish County sales also reflect the NAR statistics. Inventory was up 33 percent from July a year ago. And sales decreased by 97 homes or 6 percent with market times staying the same.

The average sales prices in July of $475,968 have also increased by 15% compared to a year ago.

Statistics compiled by the Northwest Multiple Listing Service and are deemed accurate but not warranted.

Affordable Housing Study To Take Place

WA Lawmakers Approve Affordable Housing Study

Washington legislative leaders have approved a study to promote affordable housing in the state. The study was requested by WA Realtors who have referred to a "crisis" in affordable housing. Even middle income families are being squeezed out of homeownership with average sales prices topping $500,000 in some areas.

The panel conducting the study will be comprised of the Affordable Housing Advisory Board, Realtors, homebuilders, cities and counties, and others.

Snohomish Pilot Program Saves Farmland

Tualco Valley's precious farmland is ripe for developement due to Monroe's rapid growth and it's proximity to King County. Land-rich farmers find it hard to ignore development dollars and many of the yournger generations are not interested in continuing to farm.

Snohomish County is looking at a pilot program that would buy the development rights, promote conservation and save our farmlands. If successful, the new program will offer options to farmers other than development.

Two Wolves

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two "wolves" inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grand son thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
